The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) advises visitors that ongoing rainfall and localised flooding in parts of Bangkok and surrounding areas may affect road travel and result in delays, particularly when travelling to airports, transport hubs, and other destinations.
Visitors are advised to allow additional travel time and depart earlier than planned. Before setting out, travellers should check current weather, traffic, and public transport conditions and consider alternative routes or modes of transport where appropriate.
Airport and transport status
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) remain open and operational. Road access to and from both airports may be affected by heavy rainfall, localised flooding, and traffic congestion. Passengers should check their flight status directly with their airline and allow sufficient time for their journeys.
For Suvarnabhumi Airport, the main access routes remain open. Passengers are advised to avoid the Lat Krabang route due to significant waterlogging and use Motorway No. 7 or the Burapha Withi Expressway where appropriate. Suvarnabhumi Airport advises passengers to allow at least three hours for international flights and two hours for domestic flights, and to monitor current road conditions before travelling.
Passengers travelling to Don Mueang International Airport are advised to allow at least 2–3 hours of additional travel time and to avoid roads affected by flooding or waterlogging where possible. Travellers should check current traffic and weather conditions, consider alternative routes or transport options, and follow local authorities’ instructions.
Airport Rail Link and SRT Red Line services are operating. Passengers are advised to check the latest service information and allow additional time for onward connections.
For journeys within Bangkok, rail services, including the BTS Skytrain and MRT, may provide alternatives to road transport in areas affected by traffic congestion or localised flooding. Visitors should check the latest service information from the respective operators and consider conditions around stations and connections to their final destination.
Visitors travelling by interprovincial bus or train should check the latest service information and departure arrangements with the relevant operator, particularly for routes through areas experiencing heavy rainfall or flooding. Allow additional travel time when travelling to bus and railway stations.
TAT is monitoring the situation and coordinating with the relevant authorities to provide visitor information and facilitate assistance where appropriate. Visitors requiring assistance are advised to contact the relevant authorities or the TAT Contact Centre for information and guidance.
