Bangkok, 30 January, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to inform that three of Thailand’s ministries have launched a health screening project for Bangkok taxi drivers to ensure health and road safety for all.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Ministry of Public Health, and Ministry of Transport signed an agreement on 27 January, 2020, on medical fitness to drive assessment of Bangkok taxi drivers to ensure that they are medically fit and competent to drive.
The project is to assure confidence among local and international travellers on Thailand’s effective disease control and road safety measures.
For this year, the health screening project is targetting about 3,000 taxi drivers in Bangkok and the vicinity. The screening will include a basic medical check-up, influenza vaccine, chest x-ray and eye test.
The screening will take place at the Department of Disease Control’s medical facilities including Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute and Ratchapracha Samasai Institute. In addition, mobile health screening units will be deployed at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports, TOT Academy, and Bangkok Transportation Office Region 5 (Chatuchak).
