Bangkok, 7 September 2026 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organised Amazing Thailand: The Wholesome Taste of Thai Networking Event on 5 September 2026 at YOUNG Restaurant in Kebayoran, South Jakarta, Indonesia, using Thai gastronomy to strengthen travel trade engagement and inspire Indonesian visitors to discover Thailand through food.
Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, said, “The Wholesome Taste of Thai gives TAT a strong platform to turn Thailand’s culinary identity into meaningful travel demand. Through the Jakarta networking event, TAT aims to strengthen cooperation with Indonesian partners and inspire both first-time and repeat visitors to connect Thai cuisine with Thailand’s regions, local ingredients, creativity, and wider travel experiences.”
The Jakarta event formed part of the Amazing Thailand Food Festival (World Tour), extending TAT’s The Wholesome Taste of Thai platform into Indonesia through a focused networking format. It engaged five priority groups — airlines, OTAs, travel agents, media, and KOLs/influencers — together with Indonesia’s food culture networks to translate Thai gastronomy into new travel opportunities through partnerships, promotions, media exposure, and social media amplification.
A curated Thai set menu gave the networking format a direct culinary focus, presenting original Thai flavours across appetisers, main dishes, and desserts. Highlights included beef sai oua, a Northern-style beef sausage served with crispy sticky rice and nam phrik num, a Northern green chilli dip; yum som-o, pomelo salad with shrimp and scallops; and khao yum, Southern-style rice salad with crispy shrimp, toasted coconut, and budu, a fermented fish dressing.
The menu also featured tom saab nuea, spicy A5 Wagyu beef soup with roasted rice and holy basil; pad ka prao talay, stir-fried seafood with holy basil; hor mok pla ob, baked sea bass curry custard; gaeng massaman, massaman curry with grilled wagyu short rib; and, for dessert, rice pudding with jasmine toasted rice ice cream.
The menu was presented by YOUNG Restaurant and Chef Yohans, long-standing partners of TAT Jakarta in using food to communicate Thailand’s tourism appeal. The modern Thai restaurant, set in a renovated colonial-era house, is known for authentic Thai flavours, Southern Thai cuisine, and grilled dishes. It also joined the online “Kitchen Club by TGN – Songkhla Edition: The Bold Flavour” on 5 August 2026, organised by Thailand Gastronomy Network with TAT, Hatyai University, and Indonesian food networks to promote Southern Thai culinary culture internationally.
Within TAT’s broader Amazing Thailand Food Festival (World Tour), The Wholesome Taste of Thai has been presented through different formats across priority markets. The Central Group-linked showcase route covered London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Kuala Lumpur, while Fukuoka served as a public consumer festival. Jakarta adds a trade, media, and content creator networking format designed to convert culinary interest into travel action from Indonesia.
