London, 02 November 2015 – Four tourism ventures, which support environmental, social and cultural preservation in the Thai tourism sector, were conferred “Thailand Green Excellence Awards” at a ceremony to be presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana at the World Travel Market 2015, London on 2 November, 2015.
The Green Excellence Awards were first conferred in 2007 by TAT at the World Travel Market 2007 in London. They have been held annually ever since.
The Awards are designed to reward the commitment and dedication of any company, website or non-governmental organisation, which supports sustainability and responsible travel in Thailand. They are intended to recognise good practises based on the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s concept of “Thailand Go Green” and send a strong message to the private sector that TAT respects and rewards their work.
This year’s Awards received 214 applications. The judging panel consisted of Salli Felton (The Travel Foundation), Soren Stober (ABTA), Derek Moore (AITO), Martin Symington (Travel Journalist), and Lyn Hughes (Wanderlust Travel Media). The judging criteria was as follows: 1) How visitors to Thailand benefit, 2) How Thailand benefits, 3) Sustainability, and 4) Proven success.
