The Royal Coronation of King Rama X and status of attractions during the historic events

Bangkok, 2 May, 2019 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to share useful information on the status of attractions during the Royal Coronation of King Rama X. Many thousands of well-wishers will be gathering around the Grand Palace to participate in the historic events as part of the Ceremony during 4-6 May 2019.

TAT would like to recommend that any visitors with travel plans to the inner city or Rattanakosin Island of Bangkok reconfirm with agents or check directly with the attractions. As of now, the list of tourist attractions will be closed during the Ceremony are as follows:

The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, National Museum Bangkok, the Queen’s Gallery, National Gallery and the City Pillar Shrine, are closed from 2-6 May, 2019.

The Museum Siam, Pipit Banglamphu Museum, Coin Museum, King Prajadhipok Museum, and Wat Saket (Golden Mount) are closed from 4-6 May, 2019.

The Police Museum Parutsakawan Palace and Rajadamnern Boxing Stadium are closed from 4-7 May, 2019.

Wat Pho and Wat Bowonniwet Vihara are closed on 5 May, 2019.

The Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall is closed from 5-6 May, 2019.

In addition, the Bangkok City Library is closed from 1 April until 15 May, 2019, while ‎Wat Rajabopit is closed from now until the end of the Ceremony.

For any visitors with plans to participate in the historic events, TAT would like to request that they wear respectful attire and be aware that in some areas transportation could be affected.

The Joint Administration Command for the Royal Coronation of King Rama X has prepared many services; such as, food, rest areas, and mobile toilets, as well as bus, train and boat services for the people travelling in the inner city of Bangkok to join the Royal Coronation of King Rama X.
